Trashing Canada

Here's Fox News doing what it is best at: delivering innuendo, insult, and slander and pretending it is "news".

There have been 116 Canadian military deaths in Afghanistan starting with 4 who died at the hands of a gung-ho American pilot who dropped bombs on a restricted area reserved for training troops, US and allies. For details, go here and for the long list of Canadian dead, go here.

This is a war that the majority of Canadians reject, but which the Canadian public was frog-marched into just like the UK citizens were frog-marched into a war in Iraq due to Tony Blair's political calculation that such a commitment would bring benefits. They didn't. Not for the UK by fighting and dying in Iraq and Afghanistan. And not to Canada for fighting and dying in Afghanistan.

This is the US's war. They have dragooned "allies" to help. Then the news media like Fox comes out and makes jokes about the US "allies".

This is pathetic.

Most Canadians want their troops home. Canada wants to play an international role as peace-keeper, not war-maker. Unfortunately we've now had two governments in a row that ignore the popular will. So much for democracy.

Here is a reaction to Fox news from the Ottawa Citizen newspaper and from a national TV network.
