Truth or Truthiness?

American news programs are pitiful for their flaccid treatment of "facts". They refuse to dig out the truth but instead present "two sides" as if two of anything means you have gotten at the factual truth.

Here is an excellent editorial comment by Keith Olbermann on his MSNBC program:

Fox 'News' is an abomination. It isn't journalism, it is partisanship playing at being a 'news' outfit. There is nothing wrong with opinion in a news program. It simply must be identified as that. A healthy dose of opinion is exactly how you get at truth. Facts don't come with labels to guide you in understanding which are important, which aren't, which need more attention, and which are a waste of time.
