Life Runs Like Grains of Sand Down and Out the Hourglass

Tim Hetherington, a photojournalist and maker of the Restrepo documentary film, was killed in Libya documenting the attacks by Gaddafi forces on Misrata. Here is a something to watch and reflect on while thinking of his death. This is from his 2010 video "diary"...

In his last tweet, sent on Tuesday, Hetherington wrote, "In besieged Libyan city of Misrata. Indiscriminate shelling by Qaddafi forces. No sign of NATO."

This summarizes for me the miserable "rescue" of the Libyan demonstrators by Obama and NATO. Obama was too slow to protect them, then unleashed US air power which helped the rebels to recover lost territory, but then turned it over to NATO whose half-hearted and incompetent efforts led to the rebels being beaten back. NATO is worse than useless. This is cruel to give people hope, but not deliver enough firepower to protect them. It would have been better if Obama hadn't shown this half-hearted "leadership" and just let Gaddafi massacre the rebels in Bengazi and broght the killing to the end. Instead the West has set up a scenario of endless, mindless bleeding, for what?

Here is a video that Hetherington did with students at a school for the blind in Sierra Leone. These kids were blinded intentionally by the notorious Revolutionary United Front that had terrorized the country.
